It’s taken me some time to write this blog, because often you get clients that really make you think! Think about who they are and indeed what you learnt from meeting them!
I first met Trots and KP over Skype, not unusual it’s 2016, I meet a lot of clients that way, but what was different about these two humans was just their sheer excitable love for one another. They knew what they wanted from me and I was stoked when they asked me to be their celebrant….I knew they’d made the write choice! Self wrap given!
I’ve never met two more genuinely nice people in all my life, that’s not to say that plenty of my other clients aren’t or weren’t nice, there was just that something with Dave and Kristen….a spark, something that to this day, I can’t put my finger on. Maybe it was the fact they both had incredibly wonderful and stable families? Maybe it was the humble bush upbringing? Or maybe I’m so used to the fast paced world of a celebrants life to really take stock of what’s so great about people until, they’ve had their service, partied hard and moved out of my life that I just couldn’t see it?
Whatever the X Factor is in David and Kristen, they’ve got it….in bucket loads!
Putting together their ceremony was a joy, we laughed and had fun with every step of the ceremony….and that’s what’s important for me, that YOU ultimately have a great time on your wedding day.
Normally, here is where I’d break to say ‘read their vows, aren’t they beautiful?’, but not this time, you see it was Trotsy’s sisters that get the credit in this blog, the poem they wrote together and delivered at the ceremony was nothing short of amazing!!
Take each other’s hands, so that you may see the gift that they are to you.
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever.
These are the hands that will work along side yours as together you will build your future..
Dave, Kristen’s are the hands that have nursed football injuries on the very ODD occasion that they have occurred and will continue to look after you in the future
Kristen, Dave’s are the hands that will massage your shoulders after a long term of giving all your energy and enthusiasm to a very lucky class of children.
These are the hands that will one day tenderly hold your children, godwilling.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief comes your way, and will wipe the tears from your eyes.
These are the hands that will randomly send you texts just so you know the other is thinking about you.
These are the hands that have shaken the hands with each of us here. With those prize winning smiles and engaging personalities people are drawn to you both. If you started as a friend of one, you will soon have become a friend of two.
These are the hands that give you a big hug, just because you need one.
These are the hands that will lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into eyes are that filled with overwhelming love for you.
These are the hands that will continue to hold the little hands of your nieces and nephews who absolutely adore you both.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
Dave, Kristen’s are the hands that will subtly wake you in the morning and you will pretend you are naturally a morning person, even though you could sleep till midday.
These are the hands that will give you support and encouragement to chase down your dreams.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.
And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.
Just beautiful words from Davids sisters!
David and Kristen partied until the wee small hours at 2016 and had an absolute blast, so honoured to be a part of your day.
Congratulations on the most amazing start to a New Year that any celebrant could ask for and congratulations Trotsy and KP!
