I’ve always believed in giving back in some way, maybe it stems from my upbringing with parents always giving…not just to me but constantly helping others.
So, I decided to sit down with people for a quick drink and not only in the industries that I work in – weddings, funerals and corporate speaking, but also people that I trust or look up to in some way for the way they run their business or as a leader in their own industry. We constantly talk about stuff, but I just wanted to find out a little about what makes them AND their business tick.
My first Virtual Coffee this morning is with David Chorlton of Superior Hire Cars Wollongong.
How did you get into your business?
I was made redundant from a large company in Sydney and decided it was time to run my own business instead of someone else’s.
Why did you think it was such a good idea?
I thought it was a good Idea because it is a simple business that deals with people at there happiest times in life.
How many staff do you have?
We have three staff members. Not including myself and my partner.
What are your major challenges?
Our challenges at the moment are making sure we keep compliant with ever changing industry regulations.
Who inspires you?
My partner inspires me. She has gone through two spinal surgeries, lost her career that she loved yet she still manages to be kind and loving to me and support me in business and my ever growing amount of hobbies.
Tell me about the best opportunity and what happened?
Our biggest opportunity has been meeting other small business owners that have the same business morals as us and being able to network with them.
OK, we gotta go, whatdya drinkin’?
Not sure if you are serious or not?
Of course, what are you drinking this morning?
Green tea please.
Enjoy mate and continued success with Superior Hire Cars!
Now that he’s gone……I need something with a bit more bite, I’m off to get a coffee. See ya next Thursday for more #StraneysVirtualCoffee
