Funeral Blues: See Ya Flanno
posted in Funeral by themasterofceremony
You know exactly what a funeral will be like when they giveaway a coaster and not an order of service.
That’s exactly what happened today for Shaune Flanagan, a great man and a big hearted bloke.
His saying was always ‘Keepin it Simple’ we couldn’t do that for his funeral service, he was a larger than life character and bloke who danced to the beat of his own drum. Shoalhaven Crematorium was full today to farewell Flanno, he arrived in his own truck that he’d fixed up from scratch for his business ‘My Man Cave’.
Friends and family came from many different places – including clubs to say goodbye (he worked in many clubs, Panthers just one)
His wife Rush said of herself that he’d often told friends, ‘she was the best bargain he’d ever bought off eBay’, see that was Flanno, a larakin, a Southern drinker and a collector of some amazing stuff!
Here’s just a portion of what was said today….
FLANNO WAS THE ULTIMATE COLLECTOR OF JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING, TRAVELLING THE WORLD – 60 COUNTRIES DOING WHAT HE LOVED, STEALING STUFF FROM….I MEAN ACQUIRING MANY TREASURES FROM AROUND THE GLOBE AT A BARGAIN PRICE. HE JUST LOVED IT, THE RESEARCH BEHIND A PIECE, THE HAGGLE TO OBTAIN IT AND THEN PRIDE OF PLACE IN THE FAMILY HOME.
THE BEAR IN THE HOUSE WAS A STEAL – STRAIGHT FROM NORTH SYDNEY LEAGUES CLUB, EVERY OP SHOP IN AUSTRALIA GOT A VISIT.
HE EVEN MADE WIFE RUSH “HIS TIP RAT”, MAKING HER FIND UNIQUE TREASURES FROM THE TIPS TOO.
EVERY DAY IS A DIFFERENT STORY, THE STATUES FROM MELBOURNE CASINO, THE VASES FROM EVERY CENTURY.
HE KNEW EVERY STORY FOR EVERY SINGLE PIECE AND I MEAN EVERY SINGLE PIECE…AND IT WILL BE BITTERSWEET FOR ALL OF US TO WATCH “ROAD TO RICHES AUSSIE PICKERS” ON FOX IN 2019, BUT WE CAN AGAIN CELEBRATE THE GREAT MAN FLANNO WAS TO ALL.
So many funny stories of a bloke who loved to live and lived a full life.
Missed by all, but never forgotten. Rest peacefully Shaune Flanagan
